From there, the trek continues along scenic ridgelines to the historic Newari town of Dhulikhel before reaching the sacred Buddhist pilgrimage site of Namo Buddha. The journey concludes with exploration of Namobuddha. Day 1: Kathmandu – Changu Narayan – Nagarkot
After breakfast, drive from Kathmandu to Changu Narayan, home to one of Nepal's oldest and most revered Hindu temples. Spend time exploring the ancient temple complex before beginning the hike. Changu Narayan Temple is one of the oldest and most important Hindu temples in Nepal, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Located on a hilltop overlooking the Kathmandu Valley, the temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its beautiful traditional architecture, intricate wood carvings, and ancient stone sculptures. Dating back to the 4th century, it is considered the oldest temple in Nepal still in active worship. Surrounded by traditional Newari villages and scenic countryside, Changu Narayan offers visitors a unique blend of history, culture, spirituality, and stunning valley views.
The trail passes through traditional villages, terraced farmlands, and forested ridges, offering glimpses of local rural life. After approximately 4–5 hours of walking, arrive in Nagarkot, a hill station renowned for its panoramic Himalayan views. Day 2: Nagarkot – Dhulikhel
Wake early to witness the spectacular sunrise over the Himalayas before starting the day's trek. Throughout the day, there are excellent opportunities to enjoy mountain views and observe local life in the countryside. After 5–6 hours of walking, reach the historic Newari town of Dhulikhel, known for its traditional architecture and vibrant cultural heritage. Day 3: Dhulikhel – Namo Buddha
Leaving Dhulikhel, descend through terraced hillsides and rural settlements before gradually climbing to Namo Buddha, one of Nepal's most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites. The peaceful trail offers beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and an authentic glimpse into village life. Upon arrival, visit the monastery and sacred stupa associated with the legend of Prince Mahasattva. Spend the evening enjoying the tranquil atmosphere and overnight at a monastery guesthouse in Namo Buddha.
Day 4: Explore Namo Buddha – Drive to Kathmandu
After breakfast, spend the morning exploring Namo Buddha, one of Nepal's most sacred Buddhist pilgrimage sites. Visit the beautiful monastery, prayer halls, and sacred stupa while learning about the legend of Prince Mahasattva, who is said to have sacrificed himself to save a starving tigress and her cubs. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and panoramic views of the surrounding hills before having lunch. In the afternoon, drive back to Kathmandu, concluding the trek through the scenic and cultural landscapes surrounding the Kathmandu Valley.
