It is the birthplace of Lord Gautam Buddha, the light of Asia and founder of Buddhism. Although around 81% of total population are Hindus, here is the great impact of Buddhism as well. Tibetan Buddhism has also left great impact here.

This guided religious trip offers you to visit some of the most sacred Buddhist Shrines in and around Kathmandu Valley. You got to know the history, rituals of Buddhism and Tibetan Buddhism as well.

You will visit several Buddhist shrines including Swyambhunath, White Gompa, Nagi Gompa, Kopan Monastery, Bouddhanath, Pharping Monastry (Asur Cave) and Namobuddha Monastery in this this trip.  Join us to get insight and wonderful experience of such magnificent holy places of Nepal.

Detailed Itinerary

Open All Days

As you arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), you will be greeted by one of the representatives of Holy Mountain Treks. Without much delayed, you will be transported your respective hotel. After the refreshment of your long jetlagged, you will have small pre-meeting with your religious guide about the tour at our office. You can saunter around Thamel testing typical Nepalese gastronomies in the evenning.

An exploring day is ahead. After havin the first meal, we head towards Narayansthan, sacred site of sleeping Hindu deity (Sleeping Bishnu. Then we hike to Nagi Monastery.  While going there we have to pass some steps that lead us around a well-maintained garden and a monastery for the nuns to stay where we can see nuns in flowing saffron ceremonial dress.

Exploring this monastery, we head towards Kopan Monastery. It stands 10 kilometers from Kathmandu and is one of many Tibetan Buddhist Gumpas (monasteries) near Bouddhanath. Spending some time to explore it, we head for another Bouddhist Shrines, Boudhanath. Exploring the stupa and monasteries therearound, we get back to our hotel.

Another interesting day is ahead. We are heading Pharping Monastery, a sacred place where Guru Padma Sambhava got enlightenment.  It is just 21 kilometer south from Kathmandu and it takes approximately one-hour drive to reach there. You will get rid from hectic town-Kathmandu and will have some meditation there.  

This region is also called Yanglesho by Tibetans. These days Pharping is getting popularity for meditation tour and retreats where you get different energy while meditating which is almost impossible from other activities. 

An interesting part is in the entrance gate of the monastery a cliff in the rock began to slowly knob out in the form of Tara, the female buddha and the Hindu God Ganesh as well.

Then we will make our visit to Dakshinkali. It is also popular as the blood-soaked temple and is one of the most visited Hindu Shrines. This temple resembles the goddess Kali, the blood-lust form of Goddess Parvati. To satisfy the goddess many animals are sacrificed each day. In the evening, we get back our own hotel and stay overnight.

We are going to explore Namo Buddha today. Namo Buddha lies in Kavre district, a neighboring district of Kathmandu having the distance of 40 km from central Kathmandu.  

We have an interesting history of Naamo Buddha. Conferring to the ancient myth, 6000 years ago, prince (Mahasatwo/Ngingdui Tshenpo) found a tigress lying at the top of the hill which was very hungry and could not able to hunt as well.  Then he understands that the tigress was going to die because of the hunger but her little five babies were sucking her.  Then the prince, Mahasatwo sacrifices his life as a food of tigress. The tigress eats the Prince leaving only the bones. The villagers took the bones of the prince and buried them in the grave which is definite stupa of Namo Buddha. We stay overnight there viewing astonishing sunset over the mountain ranges and exploring therearound and.

After having an early meal, we head towards Kathmandu. Upon reaching Kathmandu we check in our hotel and get our lunch. In the noon, we head towards Swyambhunath Stupa popularly known as Monkey Temple. It is an olden sacred architecture upon a hill in the Kathmandu Valley situating western part of Kathmandu valley. It occupies the core position for its mythological history and origin myth as well as day-to-day religious exercise and is one of the most sacred among Buddhist trip sites. A number of art and architectures along with history, culture can be explored there.

Next, we transverse to explore The White monastery (gompa) which lies in the southwest of Kathmandu and next to Swayambunath (monkey temple). It is one of the most visited Buddhist shrines which is built Tibetan style architecture, resembles Tibetan Buddhism Culture. This place offers the picturesque views of remarkable sunrise and sunset along with astonishing view of the lavish valley and lush green hills.
