Located in the Khumbu region of Nepal, the majestic Everest Base Camp is the dream place to pay a visit to every travel enthusiast. Everest Base Camp, also well renowned as EBC worldwide; comprises a demanding trekking trail at a higher elevation with a low oxygen level.

As alluring it is, Everest Base Camp can be a troublesome destination if you are not well prepared physically or mentally. On top of that, if you have not packed your backpack properly or left anything important to take with you; then, difficulties and inconvenience are inevitable.

So, it is paramount to make a checklist and carry everything imperative that is required to say out of a messy situation. In today’s blog, I am gonna discuss a few things that are prerequisites during the EBC trek!

What you cannot miss in your wildest dreams:

PASSPORT is the official document that proves your true identity so it must be carried to avoid nuisance while visiting a foreign country. Foreign as well as domestic tourists are vital to sustaining PERMITS while making a visit to some mountainous regions in Nepal which is obtainable in Kathmandu or at the entrance of such areas.

It is necessary to carry ENOUGH CASH while traveling in Nepal, especially in EBC. Also, the trend of using credit/debit cards at the point of sale is bounded to large shops in prime cities accompanied by a limited number of ATMs.

Visitors are allowed to carry $2000 without having to declare at the customs on arrival or you can exchange your currency into NPR with no additional cost at any exchange center in Kathmandu.

MEDICAL INSURANCE is a must as a trek to EBC is challenging and there is a high possibility of being a victim of altitude sickness and other hazards. So, visitors precisely require a policy that covers medical issues at high altitudes with an emergency evacuation.

Furthermore,

If you are a budget traveler and traveling to Nepal; then, the country is the best place to acquire new trekking gear and equipment as virtually everything is available that is essential for trekking at a surprisingly low price.

Beware and avoid the cheap knockoffs that are unreliable and fragile. Additionally, trekking to EBC has its own perk i.e. if you forgot something you can easily buy it along the way. Note that the higher you progress in the mountainous regions, the more expensive everything gets.

Namche Bazaar is the gateway to EBC that harbors numerous pharmacies and shops offering souvenirs, sporting goods, books, and many more for sale. There is also an ATM that usually works every day.

The town hosts a weekly local market on Saturday morning where the local Sherpas from the surrounding village gather up to sell the items they possess. You can check out and buy some basic essential stuff at a low cost in the weekly market.

As you advance through different altitudes during the EBC trek, you will experience a wide range of temperatures and climatic conditions. The initial days of the trek are warm enough for shorts and light shirts, but mornings and nights are freezing. Therefore, you must dress in two to three layers of zipped clothes so you can zip on or off your clothes and the body can easily regulate its temperature as required.

You must pack your backpack light and divide wisely what you carry in your backpack and what the porters take up to the mountains in your duffel bags. You should remember that porters move faster, ahead of you; so, you must carry the necessary stuff such as:
