Throughout the journey, the trail passes through Lukla-Namche Bazaar-Tengboche-Dingboche-Lobuche-Gorekshep, some of the ancient hamlets with magnificent views.

Annapurna Circuit trek

Annapurna Circuit trek offers picturesque panoramic views of Annapurna Massif. It is one of the greatest and vintage treks worldwide. 

The trail traverses through Bensisahar- Syange-Dharapani-Manang-Thorong La-Muktinath- Jomsom-Tatopani and even Ghorepani-Poonhill- Ghandruk and ends at Pokhara.

 You should pass through the sub-tropical region to the alpine and further tracks to the semi-deserts landscape which is quite akin to the Tibetan plateau.

The same trek offers great opportunities to explore different ethnic communities such as Brahmin Kshatry, Gurung, Magar, Tamang.

2. Best Time to Trek

Everest Base Camp Trek is possible to organize all year-round, it is better to hike autumn and spring. Moreover, October, November, April, and May are the best months to do this trek. The trail is more crowded during this time.

We can have picturesque views of peaks during October and November month. The skies are clear and the temperature is mild and stable at this time.

Another best time to trek EBC is the months of March to May. The hills are colorful and are covered with different sorts of followers including rhododendrons. The weather is dry and stable at this time.  

On the other hand

October has considered the best month for the Annapurna Circuit trek is in October. In this month, the monsoon ends and the trail becomes less slippery.  The temperature is neither too cold nor too hot at this time. 

We can organize this trek in the Spring season as well. The weather is dry and there is not much cold throughout this journey. We can have imagistic views of flowers bloom including rhododendrons.  

Notwithstanding the aforementioned information, Annapurna Circuit Trek is possible throughout the year except freezing cool of winter and the slippery trial of the rainy season.

3. Getting there

The Everest Base Camp Trek starts from Lukla. We have an amazing experience of a thrilling flight.

Another starting point for Everest Base Camp Trek is Jiri, situated in the Doklakha district. It is the classic route. You can take a bus to Jiri and start your journey from there.

The journey starts from Lukla and ends in the same place traversing Lukla, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, Everet Base Camp, Kala Patthar, and be back from the same route. 

On the Contrary

The starting point of the Annapurna Circuit is Bensishahar/Syange. You can take a tourist bus/ private vehicle for Bensishahar/Synge and begin your journey from there.

The route passes along with Marsyangdi and Kali Gandaki river passing Syange, Dharapani, Manang, Yak Kharka, Thorong Phedi, Thorong La, Muktinath, Jomsom, Tatopani, Ghorepani, Ghandruk and ends at Pokhara.

4. Acclimatization Places

As trekking is not a race, we should move gradually taking breaks. We should physically be adjusted in the high elevation. we need Acclimatization places to be prevented ourselves from Altitude sickness.

We acclimatize at Namche Bazaar and Dingboche while doing the Everest Base Camp trek. Whereas, we take rest at Manang village while trekking Annapurna Circuit.

5. Accommodation and Food

You will find several types of accommodation during Everest Base Camp Trek. In the beginning, you get the basic accommodations having western toilets, room showers but as you move higher elevation the accommodation becomes more basic.

 Throughout the journey, you find many small shops and teahouses where you can stop and take food and some tea. But as you reach a higher elevation, the expense increases.

 Breakfast in the Everest region includes bread toast, potatoes, porridge, and eggs. The lunch and dinner occupy Nepalese traditional food including Dal Bhat, fried rice, fried noodles, and Nepalese chafe.

On the other hand  

Although the Annapurna Circuit trek is considered more remote in comparison to the Everest base camp trek, you get plenty of shelters on the way.

In the lower elevation such as Syange, Dharapani, Muktinath, Jomsom, and Tatopani you can have more facilitative accommodations than that of higher elevations such as Yak Kharka, Thorong Phedi, High Camp, Ghorepani, and Poonhill.

In this trek, the flooding varies. Basically, you get pancakes, eggs, porridge for breakfast.  You normally get Fried potatoes, Dal Bhat, with lentils soup and mixed vegetables for lunch and dinner

6. Difficulty Level

Both of these treks demand physical fitness and take the almost same time to be finished-around 2 weeks.

 In case of altitude sickness, Everest Basecamp Trek is riskier because we start our trek from Lukla-2840m above sea level.  But we start our journey from Bensishahar-800m above sea level while doing Annapurna Circuit Trek.

 We should spend around 5 days above 4000m of sea level while doing Everest Base Camp Trek whereas we shouldn’t spend more days in high elevation while traversing Annapurna Circuit trek.

The highest point of Everest Base Camp is Kalapatthar-5545m whereas the highest altitude of Annapurna Circuit is Thorong La Pass-5416m.

7. Price/Cost

Comparatively Annapurna Circuit Trek is cheaper and easily affordable than Everest Base Camp Trek.

We have easy access to transportation on Annapurna Circuit Trek but we need to wait for our scheduled flight to and from Lukla which becomes more costly than traveling through Tourist Bus/ Private vehicle.
