Depending upon the country or region you travel to, power strips may vary. Normally those strips are categorized from type A to type O.

In some countries, the power strips may correlate with the host region whereas in some cases, you have to spend extra money to buy the plug adaptors.

An adapter plug does not change the current or voltage till your appliance is dual voltage, you may need to buy the both-voltage converter and plug adaptor.

Types of Plugs in Nepal

In the context of Nepal, it contains the three sorts of plugs including type C, type D, and Type M. where

  • Type C= two pin
  • Type D= three round pins in a triangular pattern
  • Type M= three round pins

Before traveling to Nepal, you need to have basic knowledge about the electric voltage in the power socket. Plugging in a device having different voltage can be riskier which may create electrical short, start a fire, or even worse. They should be well-matched witnessing the safety.

In countries as the Us and Canada, an electrical voltage is 110-120 volts/60Mhz. In Japan, the electric voltage is 100 volts/50-60 Hz but Nepal runs 220-240 supply voltage and 50Hz frequency.

Converter- Changing Current Voltage

As adaptors only change the configuration of the pins, they do not convert the voltage. They allow electrical connections up to 240V. In such conditions, you should use an electricity converter. Such converters convert the voltage input into adjusting your appliance.

Many countries of the world operate 220-240 volts AC whereas the Unites States electrical appliances operate only 110-120 volts AC.

Electric condition in Nepal

Nepal is the second richest country in water resources after Brazil. It dares to generate the 83,000 MW hydroelectricity. Although it has generated a few thousand MW hydroelectricity, it has a good facility for the electricity in most of the parts.

In the popular trekking regions and Annapurna and Everest, the electric facility is quite common whereas, in the less touristic zones as Manaslu and Kanchenjunga region, you may not have the proper facility of electricity where you must trek with prepared backpacks.

Different voltage rated appliances

The voltage in the electricity may vary from country to country. While traversing to those countries you may need the voltage converter or transformer. In the case of the differentness of the frequency, the functions of the electric appliances may be affected.

Most of the transformers or the converters witness the maximum power rating (AMPS or WATTS). Therefore, be confirmed that any appliance you intend to use does not exceed this rating. Two sorts of voltage-rated appliances are listed below.

Single voltage rated appliances= operating the same voltage that supplies a voltage of 230V.

Dual voltage rated appliances= operating the varied voltage that supplies the voltage of 110-240V
